Current title & company: Owner, Carissa Corsi Events
Brief description of who you are professionally w/ concise accomplishments:
I am the owner of Carissa Corsi Events, a modern chic planning brand, built on the belief that magnetic connections drive the true beauty of life’s celebrations. Although I graduated with a Marketing degree and have been in a variety of marketing, event and project management roles across the board, I always found myself most connected to events. Throughout my career, I have organized/planned weddings of 200+ people, headed up logistics for industry trade shows, conferences, corporate, and social events such as baby & bridal showers, birthday parties, holiday parties and more. Back in 2018/19, I gained both an event certification through Correlations, LLC and an agile projectment management certification through Harvard Extension. I am working on multiple event certifications through the QC Event School as we speak, Event and Wedding Planning, Event Decor, and Luxury Event and Wedding Planning. In the start of 2020, I decided to embark on the journey of starting my own event planning business and have recently launched this past month. It has been an exciting time for me and I’m looking forward to the road ahead.
Why did you join TWT and what are you hoping to achieve as a member of the organization?
TWT was recommended to me by the vice president and my close friend, Francesca Federico. I joined the group over a year ago as I wanted to be a part of a community which allowed me to network with other local women across a variety of industries and fields. I loved the fact that this group was very event-focused with events ranging from sitting in on panel discussions to social networking gatherings. As a member, I’m hoping to expand my knowledge by continuing to make/learn from new connections. In addition, I’m excited to share my journey to those I have yet to meet. This group has allowed me the ability to get to know a lot of successful women around our Boston area and form relationships along the way. The bond this organization creates is truly like no other.
What is one of your most proud professional moments and what are you most looking forward to professionally in the next five years?
One of my most warranted professional moments was when I launched my website. For a while, I was very much focused on reaching ‘perfection’ instead of making the jump and I finally did just that. I learned that it’s not about perfect, it’s about getting stuff done!
I’m most looking forward to watching my business flourish. My goal is to establish as many unique connections as possible, help people tell their stories through events, inspire people through my learnings, and be a resource to those looking for guidance on all things events.
What do you do in your “free” time?
The bulk of my free time consists of hanging out with my partner, family, friends and of course, my pups. I enjoy listening to audibles and podcasts, crafting, long walks or a workout session, exploring new places, or cuddling up on the couch to watch a movie/show. Lastly, I love volunteering and donate my time to the St. Patrick’s Soup Kitchen in Providence, RI every holiday season and whenever possible throughout the year.
What are your 3 core values?
I value confidence. To me, self-confidence is the best outfit. You have to rock it, and own it.
I value freedom. Be who you are, not who the world wants you to be.
I value compassion. A little compassion goes a long way. As with anything, the more we give, the more we shall receive.
Fun Fact/What makes YOU, you?
A fun fact I’d run with (no pun intended) is that I’ve run three half marathons (Cambridge, MA, Portland, ME, & Newport, RI) and am committed to two more in 2021 (Nashville & Portland, ME for a second go-round)! I’m always up for any type of challenge, big or small, and this excites me as it pushes me to work towards something everso rewarding!
