Full name: Sarah Barillo

Current title & company: Chief People Officer, 3Play Media

Brief description of who you are professional with concise accomplishments:
I run the People function at 3Play Media, a video localization and accessibility technology company. We believe strongly in making web video widely accessible, using technology and human expertise to deliver high-quality video accessibility services. My path started in Learning and Development, after a formative few years as a retail manager. I fell in love with learning about how leaders guide organizations (sometimes poorly!) and the various impacts that becoming a strong leader can have on people and orgs. I’ve spent the better part of my career in the People space in several industries, from wealth management/financial services to oil/gas to technology.

Why did you join TWT, and what are you hoping to achieve?
3Play Media has been a longstanding member of the TWT community, and I had heard lots about TWT having worked with leaders across New England for many years. When I joined 3Play, I was thrilled to learn that we were already established partners. In terms of hopes for achievement, I am thrilled that many new leaders at 3Play are interested in being part of the TWT community and feel empowered to lift up members across TWT as they navigate their careers.

One of my most proud professional moments and what are you most looking forward to professionally the next five years:
Leaving an organization that was no longer working for me was a huge learning and career pivot point for me. It helped me develop my senses and ability to suss out “is this going to work?” more quickly. In the next five years, I am loving leading the People function and I look forward to continuing to learn and grow in this space.

What do you do in my “free” time?
During Covid, I realized I could keep plants alive and some of them could even thrive (!!!). I love tending to my plants, moving every day in some way shape or form and spending time with my kids.

3 core values:
1. Being fake is hard – try to show up authentically as much as possible. 2. Stay curious. 3. Listen a hell of a lot more than you talk.

Fun fact: I have an identical twin (who is raising twins of their own!).
